OG gaming channel G4 is looking to make a comeback with a weekly series on YouTube and Twitch

For gamers in the mid-2000s, G4 was the place to be for gaming news and reviews. The channel was one of the first to be solely focused on video games and really put gaming out into the mainstream. With shows like Attack of the Show! And X-Play, the channel quickly garnered a ton of viewers. But, bad management and line-up changes saw ratings dip until G4 was replaced by something else. In fact, the show ICONS even had a segment on the rise and subsequent fall of the channel. But, according to a report on the Verge, it seems that the channel might be planning a comeback soon.

G4 will broadcast shows and new content on YouTube and Twitch

The company announced that it was launching a new series called B4G4 on January 29. The show will air on YouTube and Twitch.  B4G4 is essentially a lead-up to the full launch of the gaming network in summer. The show will feature game reviews, news, skits, original content and much more. And, if you happen to be a fan, you will be able to discuss the show on the network’s Reddit channel as well. The return of the channel was even teased last year.

The thing is, in the time G4 has been away, the internet has basically taken over. Shows like the Angry Joe Show, Digital Foundry, Rooster Teeth and tons of other channels have filled that space. So, it remains to be seen how G4 plans to stand out in a relatively crowed market, right now.

First ever drone-delivered kidney is no worse for wear

Drone delivery really only seems practical for two things: take-out and organ transplants. Both are relatively light and also extremely time sensitive. Well, experiments in flying a kidney around Baltimore in a refrigerated box have yielded positive results — which also seems promising for getting your pad thai to you in good kit. The test flights were conducted by researchers at the University of Maryland there, led by surgeon Joseph Scalea. He has been frustrated in the past with the inflexibility of air delivery systems, and felt that drones represent an obvious solution to the last-mile problem. Scalea and his colleagues modified a DJI M600 drone to carry a refrigerated box payload, and also designed a wireless biosensor for monitoring the organ while in flight. After months of waiting, their study was assigned a kidney that was healthy enough for testing but not good enough for transplant. Once it landed in Baltimore, the team loaded it into the container and had it travel 14 ...
