Realme Buds Air 2 TWS earphones, Smart Bulbs and more IoT products coming in 2021

It looks like Realme is going to expand way beyond the smartphone and smartphone accessories segment in 2021. In conversation with GSMArena, Madhav Sheth - VP of Realme and CEO of Realme India and Europe shed some light on some of the products we can expect from Realme in 2021. To begin with, Madhav Sheth said that the company will launch the Buds Air 2 TWS earphones in Q1 2021. In addition to the TWS, the company will also launch Smart Bulbs in Q1 2021. The smart bulbs will likely be controlled via the Realme Link app.

But that’s not all. It looks like Realme has big plans for the AIoT segment. Realme is expected to add more than 100 products in the AIoT segment. This will be across different categories throughout 2021. Madhav Sheth told GSMArena, "2021 is going to be an even more thrilling year for our AIoT segment as we plan to launch more than 100 products. We are working towards building Realme's ecosystem in India, to democratize leading technology and empower everyone's life. Basically, it's a smart and connected home. That is why our product team is also looking into other categories. I myself am very much involved in that. There will surely be some surprise launches in 2021, which I can't talk too much about now. But I will let you guys know as soon as I get new insights.”

Realme’s portfolio of devices goes way beyond smartphones in India. The company has launched a 32-inch, 43-inch TV (review) in India and also launched the 55-inch SLED TV (review). It has also launched a soundbar to complete the home entertainment ecosystem. The company has a range of Bluetooth and TWS headphones available as well. It also has smart plugs, home security cameras and smartwatches in its portfolio. Not to mention power banks and backpacks as well. Realme recently launched the realme Watch S Series and Buds Air Pro Master Edition in India. You can learn more about them here.

First ever drone-delivered kidney is no worse for wear

Drone delivery really only seems practical for two things: take-out and organ transplants. Both are relatively light and also extremely time sensitive. Well, experiments in flying a kidney around Baltimore in a refrigerated box have yielded positive results — which also seems promising for getting your pad thai to you in good kit. He has been frustrated in the past with the inflexibility of air delivery systems, and felt that drones represent an obvious solution to the last-mile problem. Scalea and his colleagues modified a DJI M600 drone to carry a refrigerated box payload, and also designed a wireless biosensor for monitoring the organ while in flight. After months of waiting, their study was assigned a kidney that was healthy enough for testing but not good enough for transplant. Once it landed in Baltimore, the team loaded it into the container and had it travel 14 ...
