Fortnite, Stardew Valley, and Alto’s Odyssey are just a few of the great Android titles released in the last year. We expect to see many more in the near future from well-known developers like Nintendo, Gamevil, and Niantic.
Here are the 15 best upcoming Android games we’re most excited about, in categories like adventure, action, racing, and more.
1. Mario Kart Tour
Mario Kart Tour is a mobile racing game based on Nintendo’s classic kart racing series. It features simple controls anyone can get used to and offers 30 characters, 20 karts, and 10 gliders to choose from. You can compete in 16 cups, with each of them including four races.
You earn Grand Stars when you complete a race, with a maximum of five available in each one. When you gather enough Grand Stars, you get free gifts like emerald gems that can be used to unlock new drivers, karts, and gliders.
Nintendo has already launched the closed beta of Mario Kart Tour, which is only available in the U.S. and Japan at the moment. 2. Harry Potter: Wizards Unite
Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is an AR game created by Niantic, the same developer behind Pokémon Go. It’s an officially licensed property, so expect to see Harry, Ron, Hermione, Hagrid, Buckbeak, and a bunch of other characters from the Harry Potter universe.
Your job is to solve the mystery of The Calamity and return Foundables to their rightful place.
The story of the game goes something like this: A calamity has struck the wizarding world, causing Foundables that include various artifacts and creatures to mysteriously appear in the Muggle world. Your job is to team up with witches and wizards from across the world and solve the mystery of The Calamity, return Foundables to their rightful place, and more.
The beta version of the game is already available in New Zealand, but there’s no word on when it will be officially launched. But since you can already pre-register for it on the Play Store, it likely won’t be long before it’s released.
3. Gears Pop!
Next up on our list of the best upcoming Android games is Gears Pop!, which is published by Microsoft and based on the company’s Gears of War franchise for Xbox. The title combines Gears characters with the art style of the popular Funko Pop figures.
Gears Pop! revolves around explosive real-time multiplayer battles in the Gears universe. However, you can also take on AI opponents in order to test out new strategies and squads. You can build your squad by collecting and upgrading iconic Gears of War heroes and villains — more than 30 of them are available in the game.
The title has already soft launched in a few countries, but there’s no word on when it will officially be released globally. In addition to Android, it will also make its way to iOS.
4. Minecraft Earth
Microsoft is also working on Minecraft Earth, a new AR mobile game for Android as well as iOS devices. According to the game’s website, players can build structures with other players and place them in the real world at life-size. You can build them with your friends as well as team up with others for mini-adventures.
Minecraft Earth also features many familiar mobs Minecraft fans will know and love, as well as a bunch of new ones. Players have the option to breed unique mob variants and use them to populate their builds. Minecraft Earth is a free-to-play title, with in-game items available for purchase.
The closed beta of the game will be released this summer, but there’s no word on when the full version will officially launch. You can already sign up for the beta via the button below.
5. Shadowgun War Games
This upcoming title from Madfinger Games is a competitive multiplayer shooter set in the Shadowgun universe. In addition to Android, it’s also coming to the Nintendo Switch and iOS devices.
Shadowgun War Games features heroes from across the series that take part in 5v5 Capture the Flag battles. Each character has unique weapons and abilities, and your job is to coordinate strategies with your teammates to win. The game is s presented as a fictional sport/game show taking place in an arena packed with action-hungry spectators — as shown in the trailer above.
An exact release date for the game has not been announced yet, but you can sign up for the closed beta on the developer’s website to try it out once it’s released.
6. Human: Fall Flat
Human: Fall Flat is a physics-driven puzzle game with platformer elements. It was first released on PC back in 2016 before making its way to consoles. Thanks to an agreement between the title’s publisher Curve Digital and 505 Games — known for games like the ARMA series and Payday 2 — Human: Fall Flat is coming to Android.

In Human: Fall Flat, you step into the shoes of Bob, an average guy with no superpowers or other extraordinary skills. The goal is to take Bob through his dreams, which are full of puzzles, dangers, and surprises. You’ll have to use various object to solve the puzzles, some of which are quite tricky.
Unfortunately, there’s no word on when the game will hit Android devices. And although this hasn’t been confirmed yet, it looks like Human: Fall Flat will be a premium game, meaning you’ll have to pay a few bucks to play it.
7. Forza Street
Microsoft’s Turn 10 Studios is adding a new game to the popular Forza series. Called Forza Street, it’s a free-to-play racing game that’s already available for Windows 10 devices and is coming to Android sometime later this year.
As you can tell by its name, the new game is all about street racing. Your goal is to win events, after which you get points to upgrade your cars or buy new ones to add to your garage. Unlike the Forza Motorsport series, Forza Street is aimed at casual gamers who want a more arcade-like experience.
You still have to put in lots of effort to win races, though. The game is all about timing: pressing the gas, brake, and boost option at the right moment is the key to overtaking opponents and finishing the race first. To learn more about the game, check out the short trailer above.
8. Call of Duty: Mobile
Call of Duty: Mobile is a free-to-play multiplayer shooter. The game will include at least five multiplayer modes — Free-For-All, Frontline, Team Deathmatch, Hardpoint, and Domination — and seven maps, including Nuketown, Crash, and Hijacked.
The title will also feature a battle royale mode from day one, which will support up to 100 players per match. You’ll be able to play in first- or third-person and pick a class before each battle. There will be six of them available — Defender, Mechanic, Scout, Clown, Medic, and Ninja — each of which has its own ability and class skill.
The Call of Duty: Mobile closed beta is already live in a few countries, including India. Unfortunately, the developer has not yet announced when the game will be officially launched. It’s already listed on the Play Store, where you can sign up to get notified when it’s released.
9. Bad North
Bad North is a real-time strategy game with beautiful, minimalist graphics. You take on the role of a prince, whose island has been invaded by Vikings. Your mission is to fend them off with the help of an army that’s in your total control.
In Bad North, positioning is everything.
The game is all about positioning. You have to place your army at the right spots across the battlefield to come out on top. You also have to react quickly and know when to retreat to avoid defeat. Once you win a battle, you take on a new one on a different island, each of which has a unique layout.
Bad North is already available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. The developer says it will come to Android in 2019, but didn’t give a more specific timeframe.
10. H1Z1
H1Z1 is a battle royale game, similar to PUBG and Fortnite. You jump out of an airplane with up to 150 other players and start looking for guns, ammo, and other supplies once you land. Then it’s time to go on the hunt and take down as many opponents as possible. The last one standing wins.
The playzone gets smaller and smaller throughout the game, bringing players closer together and making sure you’re always on your toes. Just like in PUBG, there are vehicles available so you can get from place to place faster. You can play solo or team up with one or even four other players.
H1Z1 isn’t as popular as PUBG or Fortnite, but it still has millions of devoted fans. It’s free to play and available on PS4 and PC. The company has confirmed a mobile version is in the works, but there are no details on when it’s coming.
11. Project Cars GO
Project Cars, a popular racing game on Xbox One, PS4, and PC, is getting a mobile spin-off. Called Project Cars GO, it will come with loads of exotic cars and tons of customization options, just like the PC and console versions.
Project Cars is known for an authentic racing experience, and the mobile version promises just that. The game has sold over two million copies worldwide so far and is one of the best of its kind in my opinion.

Gamevil and Slightly Mad Studios are developing the game, but there’s no word on the release date. Slightly Mad Studios CEO Ian Bell said racing fans will be “stomping the gas pedal and burning rubber very soon,” which makes us think it won’t be long until Project Cars GO makes its debut. When it does, it will give all the other titles on our list of best upcoming Android games a run for their money.
12. Diablo Immortal
Back in November, developer Blizzard Entertainment announced it’s working on Diablo Immortal, its second mobile game. The title is being developed from the ground up, so it’s not a port of a previous Diablo PC or console game.

The storyline takes place between the events of Diablo II and III. The Archangel Tyrael is believed to be dead, while the Worldstone has been shattered into various fragments. Those Worldstone segments are the source of new and ancient evil creatures who want to use the stone’s power to take over the land.
The game lets you choose from six classes (Barbarian, Monk, Wizard, Crusader, Demon Hunter, and Necromancer), with each one having a set of at least 12 skills. You’ll be able to explore and fight in nine outdoors areas and will come across a lot of creatures never seen before in a Diablo title. The game is already listed on the Play Store, but an official release date has not been announced yet.
13. Levelhead
Butterscotch Shenanigans, the developer behind the popular Crashlands game, is developing a new title called Levelhead. This 2D platformer lets you build your own levels and publish them for everyone to play. You can use more than 60 elements to get the job done, including enemies, hazards, paths, switches, secrets, power-ups, and more.
It’s a cross-platform game, so levels created on Android will work on PC and iOS, and vice versa. Up to four people can play a level at once, or even create levels together. If you’re not into that, the single-player campaign lets you take control of GR-18 — a delivery robot in training.
Based on the short trailer (above), Levelhead looks like a lot of fun if you’re into platforming games. It’s coming to PC, iOS, and Nintendo Switch, in addition to Android.
14. Impossible Bottles
Impossible Bottles is described as a rhythm game. You take on the role of a genius inventor who wants to provide an endless source of energy to the world with the help of his machines — from tiny robots to enormous golems.
To get the job done, you have to power the robots by firing streams of electricity in sync with the music. You can check out what this looks like by clicking here. But be careful: even a small mistake regarding the musical rhythm could create a global blackout and destroy the robots. The game features 10 hand-drawn robots, easy single-tap gameplay, and original electronic tracks to go along with each machine.
According to the game’s website, Impossible Bottles will be released in the summer of 2019, which means somewhere between the end of June and September. There are no details whether it will be a free-to-play title or not.
15. Payday: Crime War
Already a popular first-person shooter on PC and consoles, Payday is coming to Android. Payday Crime War is a multiplayer, team-based PvP title. One team takes on the role of criminals trying to perform a robbery. The other team steps into the shoes of a SWAT team trying to prevent the crime.
Up to eight players can play in a match, which can happen in different locations. As you progress through the game, you can get new weapons and additional abilities to step up your game.
Overkill Software set up a website for the upcoming game, claiming it’s coming soon. An exact date has not been shared with the public yet. However, the developer is already testing out the game with a closed beta program, which hopefully means it won’t be long before it’s released.
These are the some of best upcoming Android games to keep an eye out for, though we’re sure plenty of other interesting titles will debut this year.
